Changing the Background Color

Postby Graebeard » Thu Feb 04, 2010 10:08 am

Greetings,

I'm new to this software, so there's probably an easy answer.

The default screen color is black while the desired print color (ie the paper) is white. Since the layer colours, such as yellow pads, are usually selected to show well on the screen (black), they can easily disappear on white paper. Is there a way to set the screen color to white?

Thanks

You can change the screen background for display purposes. It is "Setup/Layer/Color". You can then change the "Background". This applies to all layers. We do not recommend setting it to anything other than black and especially not white. This is because our rendering is geared to show translucent colors and this uses an OR operation on colors. In this way white dominates everything and so will hide everthing.
I think your question refers to the difference in colors between the screen and when you print.
We have set the background for printing to be white, because otherwise too much ink is being used when printing on paper. This is of course not an issue when printing to a .pdf file, and we are considering adding an new printing mode in the future. There are no definite plans as to when this will be available.

We have just released a new version (V11.0.22) which lets you print in "screen colors". The background will be black in the generated printed output. So, not very useful when printing on paper as it will waste a lot of ink, but perfect for printing to files, like .pdf documents.
The output colors will look the same as the screen colors,
