How can I create a circular clearance?

Postby otto9K9otto » Wed Mar 17, 2010 1:16 pm

Continuing efforts to create a circular ground plane inner layer (see previous post) using ViewMate Deluxe, I drew a circle around the layer periphery. This left me with some circular clearances (around vias and pins) violated. Now I need to restore those circular clearances. I would think this might involve some sort of negative circle, but, again, such things are not obvious upon perusing the manual.

When you insert elements in ViewMate Deluxe, they are either added as "paint" elements or "scratch" elements.

When you insert paint elements, you are adding copper. When you insert scratch elements, you remove copper.

If you wish to insert a clearance, enable scratch mode before inserting an element.

You can enable this mode by selecting "Insert->Scratch".

There is also a toolbar button for this mode. Clicking on the toolbar button toggles between paint and scratch modes.

Thanks, Max. Now I am beginning to understand the "jargon" of ViewMate. This is a cool, powerful program.
