older ODB files

Postby aiewould » Mon Apr 30, 2012 9:00 am

Hello,

I'm in the process of viewing/comparing gerber files and have generated from my old PCB software an ".odb" file ouput. I assume this is the earlier stages of ODB++. Can ViewMate Pro import this version? I have the freebie, and will possibly purchase the Pro version. The file extension is ".odb", which is different from the standard ODB++ extension and it doesnt appear to be compressed like ODB++. Your help is certainly appreciated.

We are not familiar with the .odb extension for ODB++ files.
Our software can import compressed (usually .tgz or .tar) files, or ODB folder subtrees.
If the free ViewMate cannot read in your file, the higher versions will also not be able to read it in.
Maybe your old PDB software can export extended Gerber files. Those would work equally well for comparing.
What ViewMate Pro has that can be helpful for you in this case is an automated layer compare function, so you don't have to visually compare the data.
