Smart DFM says my board outline is discontinuos

Postby otto9K9otto » Wed Feb 10, 2010 2:58 pm

I use FreePCB to lay out my board. Then, using Smart DFM to check, it reports that my board outline is discontinuous. The new quote window has a pink tab that says "50 errors" but I cannot click on it. When I click "show errors in ViewMasterEZ" I get a closeup of the text "Board Outline" at the bottom of the drawing. Some of the letters have lines and arrows within them. I suspect it is looking at the text and seeing that not all letters in "Board Outline" are closed polygons. Perhaps I should first purge this text?

Hey Otto, It is the text that the DFM program is confusing for the PCB. Just blow away the text and you will be cookin' with gas!

Otto

The data on the board outline layer should contain only the board outline and nothing else. You should delete any text (it will not be useful in fabrication anyway) and any extra decorations, then run the DFM check again.
